Bill Muhr, MSW, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Bill Muhr is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has been helping individuals and families for over 25 years. He has been in private practice for the last 18 years and was previously employed for over a decade at Willow Creek Community Church where he served as Director of Social Services and Pastoral Care.

Bill offers both individual and relationship counseling. His practice includes treatment and relief for anxiety, depression, life transitions, and emotional, sexual and physical trauma. Many people have difficulty naming their own experiences as abusive or traumatic, but may feel hypervigilant, stuck, or disconnected from their own self, their own feelings and their own “voice”. Bill incorporates EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Somatic Experiencing in treating anxiety, post-traumatic stress and complex trauma. Bill also has advanced training in treating problematic internet pornography use.

Bill is sought out for his approach to life direction and life purpose, mid-life/second-half of life issues and spiritual formation. He has also hosts groups for therapeutic personal story telling.

Bill integrates emotional, physical and spiritual health and has been described as easy to talk to and insightful. Bill is married and has three children.

Bill is a member of the National Association of Social Workers. He received his Masters in Social Work from the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago, EMDR training (Level I, II and Master Classes) through EMDRIA (EMDR International Association), CSAT Certificate through IITAP (International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals.) Somatic Experiencing training through the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute, and advanced training for group hosting through the Art of Hosting and Peer Spirit/The Circle Way.
